Safeguarding and Project Delivery Specialist
Location: London
Salary: £36,000 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term Contract until March 2026 with possible extension subject to funding.
Hours: 37.5 Per Week( Monday and Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday to Thursday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

The Role
They are seeking an experienced individual as a Safeguarding and Project Delivery Specialist. This dual role would encompass taking a lead on Youth Safeguarding duties whilst also supporting wider project delivery. This dynamic and exciting opportunity would enable the post holder to make a significant impact on the lives of young people by ensuring their safety and well-being while contributing to the successful delivery of their mental health support programmes.
As a key member of the Youth Team, you will be responsible for providing expert safeguarding guidance, support, and training, ensuring the safety of their service users. You will work closely with schools, external agencies, and the wider organisation/youth team to identify, assess, and manage safeguarding concerns daily. In addition, you will play a vital role in the overall delivery of their range of Youth Team projects, contributing to their ongoing impact and success, particularly in the borough of Southwark.
This is a new role within the team so the candidate must be a self-starter who excels at identifying and managing risk with a high level of resilience to lead on the Youth Teams safeguarding functions. You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively manage safeguarding cases and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
Key requirements:
- Lead on Youth Safeguarding: Act as the first responder to safeguarding concerns, and managing safeguarding caseloads to ensure the safety and well-being of young people.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools and external agencies, including Social Services and CAMHS, to effectively address safeguarding issues.
- Training and Guidance: Provide expert safeguarding guidance and deliver training to the Youth Team and other relevant stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and well-being for service users.
- Project Delivery Support: Contribute to the development and implementation of Youth Team project plans, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets while monitoring progress and identifying potential risks.
Skills and Qualifications
- Educated to degree level, or with a professional qualification or equivalent level of professional experience.
- 2+ years demonstrable experience of safeguarding case management and undertaking onward referrals to statutory agencies, particularly for the 4 - 18 age range
- Experience in assessing and managing risk, as well as putting safety plans and risk assessments in place to keep young people safe.
- Experience of working with young people in a mental health setting.
- In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and practice for children and young people.
- Experience of working in an organisation which supports children and young people or in a school setting
- Experience of creating and delivering tailored safeguarding training to diverse audiences.
- Comprehensive understanding of referral pathways and reporting procedures.
- Ability to adherence to Groundwork London’s policies and procedures including confidentiality, safeguarding and the management and sharing of data under the GDPR regulations and of the Data Protection Act 2018
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage own workload and work collaboratively in a team
- Willingness to be flexible in work patterns and to fulfil occasional evening and weekend duties
