Position overview

The Senior Manager, Tax Strategy position is an exciting temporary role is created to support the need to provide the business with dedicated support on a number of complex and exciting initiatives. Client is active in over 90 countries with legal entities in more than 50 and therefore the role is truly global. As an individual in the tax team you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to excellence in both process and performance working alongside senior leaders in tax and transfer pricing.

Reporting to the Director, Tax Strategy, your key responsibilities will include:

  • M&A. Provide support on acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence, input into forecast models, deal structuring. You will be required to manage advisors as appropriate as well as work closely with the relevant Client teams to provide tax support as necessary.
  • Maximising opportunities from IP and R&D. As part of the operating model changes, Client is reviewing its IP ownership and R&D footprint to maximize RDEC and Patent Box benefit. You will have a key role in researching the various opportunities and modelling out the benefit utilizing forecasts.
  • Legal entity restructuring. You will work with the team and outside advisors to ensure that the current plans for entity reorganisations are carried through and all tax actions are complete; as well as taking a role in moving any future stages forward.
  • Operating Model Design. Client is running various projects in adjusting the design of the operating model and you will have a key role as part of the review team following up on actions and working closely with key stakeholders.
  • Treasury tax matters. Working with the treasury and finance teams, you will attend group meetings involved in ensuring the groups repatriation and dividend policy is met and that the tax implications are fully considered.
  • Ad-hoc advisory and planning. As an evolving organisation, new opportunities and issues are arising all the time. You will be required to respond quickly and pragmatically to any such queries.
  • In addition, you will provide support to the Tax reporting team as required, inputting into the ETR forecasting, tax accounting, compliance and tax return disclosures, and governance framework which are managed by the Group Tax Reporting team.

You will be part of an innovative Global Tax Team of approximately 15 team members situated in the UK, Portugal and USA, and will work alongside the Strategic Transfer Pricing Senior Manager. As part of the Strategic Tax team you will be the expert in providing commercially-focused tax advice and tax services to the group on a timely and relevant basis. You will have experience in international tax and be able to provide technical advice to non-tax professionals.

You will need to be a strong, self-starter able to work quickly and efficiently to get the job done. You will be expected to use available resources to develop solutions to issues as they arise and be able to present your conclusion or proposal to senior members of the tax team.

Role requirements

  • ACA/CTA qualified (or equivalent) with 4-6 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in M&A and International Tax projects
  • Knowledge of recent global developments in the global tax landscape
  • Working knowledge of transfer pricing principles
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to research complex issues and provide clear succinct advice to non-tax professionals
  • Familiarity with accounting for income taxes.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Good excel skills.
