ITIL Service Transition ManagerTransition Management
6 momths contract
DescriptionIn this crucial client-facing role as a Service Transition Manager, you will be responsible for managing the transition into live service of several cloud-hosted digital applications.
These applications are part of a broader digital transformation program aimed at modernizing existing functions and services. The goal is to replace legacy operations-often isolated, offline, or managed independently at different sites-with integrated digital solutions. These solutions streamline processes, improve efficiency, and remove reliance on outdated "swivel chair" methods across multiple disconnected systems.
The program follows the Government Digital Services (GDS) framework and employs Agile principles to manage application delivery. As the Service Transition Manager, you will lead efforts to transition applications into live service, where they will be supported by a third-party Through Life Support (TLS) team. This involves ensuring that transition criteria are defined, managed, and met, as well as identifying and addressing any associated risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate service transition workstreams, coordinating between application development teams and BAU/TLS support teams.
- Develop and agree on transition acceptance criteria for services, govern delivery against them, and manage associated risks.
- Oversee transition workstream teams through matrix management, ensuring effective resource coordination and action tracking.
- Establish and maintain transition governance controls to identify and mitigate risks or shortfalls.
- Collaborate with support and service delivery teams to refine and embed transition processes into methodologies for delivering change.
- Act as the Service Management lead for new services during their warranty period, providing continuity between project delivery and operational support.
- Own knowledge transfer activities to ensure operational teams are equipped to support new or changed services effectively.
- Work closely with project teams to provide operational teams with the necessary skills, tools, knowledge, and documentation.
- Continuously improve service transition processes and embed enhancements into daily activities.
Why You?You will be able to demonstrate:
- Active security clearance
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Proven track record in Service Transition Management
- Strong domain knowledge in government or similar sectors
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and coach teams
- Ability to build trusted relationships with clients to meet business objectives
- Capability to collaborate with project managers and service delivery managers independently in a dynamic environment
- Desirable: ITIL or other Service Management certifications
