Our client, a London Borough Council, has a vacancy in the Culture and Communities sector, we are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Weights and Measures Inspector to join their team. Responsibilities:

As a Weights and Measures Inspector, you will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing Trading Standards legislation within the North East London Metrology Partnership
  • Providing legal advice and support to businesses, consumers, and other council departments/organisations
  • Carrying out investigations and interviews to detect and prevent crime
  • Liaising and consulting with government departments, local police, and other organisations
  • Effectively dealing with complaints in accordance with office procedures
  • Preparing detailed reports and making recommendations for the appropriate course of action
  • Attending court proceedings as a witness when required
  • Identifying unfair trading practises and advising the partnership manager

Essential:

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

  • Diploma in Weights and Measures or equivalent
  • Qualified weights and measures inspector with recent experience in weights and measures inspections
  • Experience in both retail and non-retail environments

Desirable:

The following are not required, but are considered an advantage:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and appeal cases
  • Familiarity with government departments and law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and collate data for formal returns
