Job Title: Weights and Measures Inspector

Contract Details: Temporary, Part-Time (working 3 days per week, on site)
Salary: Hourly rate from £35.76 to £45

Our client, a London Borough Council, has a vacancy in the Culture and Communities sector, we are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Weights and Measures Inspector to join their team. With their strong commitment to enforcing Trading Standards legislation and promoting compliance with the law, our client plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of goods and services in the London Borough.

Responsibilities:
As a Weights and Measures Inspector, you will be responsible for:
- Enforcing Trading Standards legislation within the North East London Metrology Partnership
- Providing legal advice and support to businesses, consumers, and other council departments/organisations
- Carrying out investigations and interviews to detect and prevent crime
- Liaising and consulting with government departments, local police, and other organisations
- Effectively dealing with complaints in accordance with office procedures
- Preparing detailed reports and making recommendations for the appropriate course of action
- Attending court proceedings as a witness when required
- Identifying unfair trading practises and advising the partnership manager
Essential:
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- Diploma in Weights and Measures or equivalent
- Qualified weights and measures inspector with recent experience in weights and measures inspections
- Experience in both retail and non-retail environments
Desirable:
The following are not required, but are considered an advantage:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and appeal cases
- Familiarity with government departments and law enforcement agencies
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and collate data for formal returns
