Are you passionate about providing support to people during difficult times? Our client, a Cemetery Service, is seeking a dynamic and empathetic Bereavement Services Officer to join their team. As a Bereavement Services Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused burial and cremation service. This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on individuals and families in their time of need.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake cemetery, cremation, and memorial administration tasks, ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service by advising customers on all aspects of cemetery, cremation, and memorial enquiries.
  • Liaise with the public and funeral directors to facilitate arrangements for grave selections, memorial appointments, and the disposal of cremated remains.
  • Utilise cemetery and crematorium software, Microsoft Office packages, and corporate systems for data inputting and record keeping.
  • Assist in the sale of various memorial types and contribute to memorial sales development.
  • Maintain filing systems, compile statistics and performance figures, and complete financial records and returns.
  • Respond effectively to general correspondence and ensure timely and accurate responses to enquiries.
  • Collaborate with a busy office team and demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Provide administrative support for chapel duties when required.
  • Offer assistance to the public with genealogical enquiries and family history searches.
  • Conduct financial transactions as necessary.
  • Process music and organist requests for services to meet deadlines.
  • Support all matters related to memorial infringements, regulation enforcement, and memorial safety.

Experience:

  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably within a similar service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using cemetery and crematorium software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other corporate systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team and handle a busy workload.
  • Experience in similar role advantageous
