Our client is currently seeking a dedicated Planning Officer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in Development Management and Town Planning to make a significant impact within a dynamic and collaborative environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and undertaking all activities and processes associated with the administration of planning and related applications and appeals.
  • Processing a range of planning and related applications for small to large/complex proposals, from initial referral through to final decision and appeal.
  • Preparing for and presenting at Committee meetings and other public meetings.
  • Undertaking and leading negotiations and making recommendations on all types of planning and related applications, including the consideration of S106/CIL.
  • Providing detailed and high-quality professional/expert advice on all Development Management matters, including public meetings/forums and in writing.
  • Contributing to and taking responsibility for the implementation of measures and actions to improve the development management service.
  • Consulting, engaging, and advising customers, communities, colleagues, elected Members, and other interested parties.
  • Contributing to the aims and objectives of delivering sustainable development as defined by the Council or national planning policy.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in Development Management and Town Planning.
  • Strong understanding of the administrative processes associated with planning applications and appeals.
  • Excellent negotiation and recommendation-making skills on planning applications, including S106/CIL considerations.
  • Proficiency in providing expert advice on Development Management matters.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports at public and Committee meetings.
  • Strong commitment to contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the development management service.
  • Effective engagement and consultation skills with various stakeholders.
  • Dedication to sustainable development objectives as per Council or national policy.
