Our client is a vibrant and diverse educational institution committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for our students. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Co-ordinator to join our team and ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and visitors.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Co-ordinator to lead and promote a strong safety culture across the College. You will play a crucial role in coordinating and implementing health and safety policies, procedures, and systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and promote health and safety awareness throughout the College, fostering a culture of safety through open engagement with students, staff, and visitors.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and systems of work, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Monitor and maintain a range of digital technologies that enhance our safety management, including DSE and Training software, Evolve educational Visits, and the internal health and safety portal.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices, and communicate changes effectively to affected parties.
  • Liaise directly with the Principal on site, providing regular updates and reports on health and safety matters.
  • Support the Curriculum and Estates teams in ensuring a safe learning and working environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with curriculum and support staff, as well as external stakeholders.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Co-ordinator, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong IT skills and experience in managing digital safety systems.
  • Proactive, organised, and confident approach to work.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Enhanced DBS check and registration with the DBS Update Service.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
