About the Role:
Veritas Education is delighted to partner with a vibrant and supportive primary school in Southwark, London, to offer an exciting opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is perfect for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting while making a meaningful impact on the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN).

As a Teaching Assistant in this dynamic school, you will work closely with both individual SEN students and support the wider classroom activities, providing tailored learning assistance and ensuring that every child receives the attention and resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to SEN students, helping them to overcome challenges and access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist the class teacher with general classroom support, including preparing learning materials, supporting group work, and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students' independence and confidence.
  • Support students' emotional and social development through active listening, guidance, and appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to the teaching team to ensure effective progress.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • A passion for working with children and supporting those with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience working with SEN students (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude with a commitment to helping every student succeed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
