The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our all through Schools in Hammersmith and Fulham. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our students' educational and emotional needs, working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and development of students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide targeted interventions.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive social interactions.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Provide emotional and social support to students, fostering a positive school experience.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of all students.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a primary / secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting SEMH needs.
  • First Aid training.
  • Additional qualifications related to special education or child development.
