Teaching Assistant

Tempest Education are working in partnership with a primary school in Greenwich that are recruiting for a teaching assistant to join their friendly staff team from September 2024.

This two-form entry primary school are seeking to appoint two special needs teaching assistants that are experienced and has a real passion for supporting children with special needs and wanting to make a positive difference in young childrens lives.

In this role, your main responsibility will be working with children with special needs on a one-to-one basis. The needs of the child include autism and learning difficulties.

This primary school in Plumstead, Greenwich have onsite parking and easy transport links. This primary school are keen to speak to teaching assistants that are experienced in working with young children with special needs. This is a one-year fixed term contract with a few to transition permanent at the end of the year, working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm during term time.

Interviews and trial days will be commencing as soon as possible.

School/Role Information:

  • Supporting children in Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2
  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only
  • 84-96 per a day
  • September 2024 Start

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Working one-to-one within an intervention room and classroom
  • To follow and adapt class teachers plans as well as think creatively on how to engage the child
  • To be able to give feedback to the class teacher, school SENCO and sometimes parents
  • To be able to think on the spot as the child can become dysregulated very quickly and will not always want to follow the plan for the day

Needs of child:

  • Autism
  • Learning difficulties
  • Pre Verbal
  • Mild ADHD

Required Experience:

  • Experience working with young children
  • Must have SEN experience of over a year working with children with complex needs
  • Experience supporting children with learning difficulties or disabilities
  • To be able to communicate well with staff as we are constantly monitoring targets
