Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all students
  • Support students during classroom activities and help them develop positive social skills
  • Communicate regularly with parents and other staff members to provide updates on student progress

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students who have SEMH needs
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Relevant certification or training in special education or related field is a plus

Day-to-day

  • Work closely with teachers to identify and address the needs of students with SEMH challenges
  • Provide support during classroom activities and help students stay focused and engaged
  • Communicate with parents and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive approach to student development
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior plans and provide feedback on their effectiveness
