About the Role:
Our client, a prominent local authority, is seeking a Housing Manager to lead and manage a team of Housing Officers and Assistants. This role plays a pivotal part in delivering high-quality housing services that enhance resident satisfaction, build sustainable communities, and ensure compliance with housing regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Service Delivery:
Lead and inspire a team to deliver neighbourhood services that align with the council's mission and vision. Ensure adherence to tenancy agreements, manage tenancy checks, and oversee voids and lettings processes to maximise efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with residents, tenant associations, and external agencies to deliver joined-up services and foster community involvement. Represent housing services in county court hearings and multi-agency meetings.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Manage estate inspections, address fire risk assessment recommendations, and deliver an effective approach to anti-social behaviour and domestic violence cases.
Budget and Performance Management:
Plan and monitor budgets to ensure value for money. Analyse performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and champion innovation in service delivery.
Customer Focus and Equality:
Respond to complaints and enquiries from residents, members, and MPs. Promote equality and diversity in all housing services and ensure fair access to resources.
Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Housing qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 4) or sufficient relevant experience.
Knowledge and Experience:
Proven track record in managing neighbourhood services in social housing.
Experience in team management, change implementation, and continuous improvement.
Strong understanding of housing legislation, case law, and voids/lettings processes.
Management and Leadership:
Ability to attract, develop, and retain team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
Project Management:
Skilled in planning and managing projects, including risk, cost, and time management.
Skills and Abilities:
Analytical and data interpretation skills for effective resource planning.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
Relationship-building and influencing skills.
Additional Requirements:
Availability for emergency response and business continuity planning.
Knowledge of safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults.
Awareness of health and safety regulations.
