Harris Hill are delighted to be working with one of London’s leading independent girls’ day schools, who have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, professional and well qualified HR Manager.
The role is based 5 days a week in a suburban leafy area of West London.

The post holder will be responsible for recruitment, payroll, the SCR, and will provide HR guidance and support to management and staff in school. If you have excellent organisational, time management, written and verbal communication skills, we will be delighted to hear from you.

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced HR Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Headteacher and Bursar, the successful candidate will be responsible for the entire employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment law and safeguarding guidelines. You will provide strategic advice and operational support on a range of HR issues, from recruitment and retention to staff wellbeing and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, and performance management
  • Ensure the school complies with all legal and regulatory HR requirements, including safeguarding and child protection
  • Support staff development by coordinating training programs and managing appraisals
  • Advise on employee relations issues and ensure a positive and supportive working environment
  • Develop and implement HR policies in line with best practices
  • Work closely with senior management to support strategic planning and organizational development
  • Manage staff welfare programs, offering guidance and support as needed

Key Requirements:

  • CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, ideally within an educational or not-for-profit setting
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff at all levels
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a high degree of discretion and professionalism

This is a 12 month fixed terms maternity cover contract.
