HR Manager - Education (4 months FTC) £50,000 - £60,000 pro rataHybrid 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home

A highly established International College based in the City of London is looking to recruit a HR Manager on a 4-month contract to join the HR Team. The HR Manager will provide a full range of services to the managers and staff across business units, as well as assisting the Head of HR on the planning and delivery of key project work.

  • Managing short- and medium-term projects within the HR team and on behalf of the wider business.
  • Acting as a source of expertise on all HR related issues, providing a commercial and solution based service whilst ensuring best practice.
  • Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and contractual obligations and knowledge share best practice with them, with a particular focus on new managers.
  • Plan and participate in HR L&D activities- including the coordination of training plans, development and delivery of training materials and assessment of workforce present and future skills.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the workforce approach to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of our staff.
  • Provide advice on recruitment and selection strategies including safer recruitment and inclusive recruitment.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of processes across the employee lifecycle including induction, performance and exits.
  • Devising, developing, implementing and reviewing a range of HR policies and procedures in line with relevant employment legislation.
  • Support the HR advisor team in managing complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy
  • Work with group HR functions - Operations, Recruitment and L&D to ensure best practice is deployed across Colleges and Residences teams.
  • Working with the HR Operations team to ensure maximum efficiency and ROI from the HR System (Workday).
  • Support change management processes and workforce planning activity.
  • Attending in own role or deputising for the Head of HR at meetings across our UK locations and remotely.
  • Support the HR advisor team in managing complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.

Key skills, experience, and knowledge include:

  • Experienced HR Manager that has worked medium to large sized companies, 500++ staff
  • Experienced in working in Education however open to other industries.
  • Up to date and accurate knowledge of UK employment legislation and strong employee relations experience
  • Experience of influencing and coaching colleagues and managers
  • Excellent relationship management and consultative skills with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees
  • High level of personal credibility with the courage to challenge when required
  • Relevant HR qualification, preferably CIPD qualified
