We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor (Schools) to provide high-quality HR advice and support to schools and academies. You will handle complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence management, TUPE, redundancy, appraisal, capability) via email, phone, Teams, and onsite visits. Responsibilities include acting as an investigating officer, drafting reports, attending formal meetings, developing HR policies, collaborating with trade unions, and delivering HR training.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert HR advice to head teachers, governors, and clients on employment law, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions Document, Burgundy Book, and School Staffing Regulations.
- Support schools with employee relations casework, disciplinary processes, performance management, recruitment, redundancy, and change management.
- Advise on TUPE processes for school-to-academy conversions.
- Work closely with trade unions and facilitate consultation meetings.
- Deliver HR training sessions on topics such as employment law, attendance management, and policy implementation.
- Assist in job evaluations, recruitment processes, and assessment centers.
- Provide HR insights in safeguarding cases, attending LADO meetings when necessary.
- Ensure ongoing professional development and stay updated on employment law.
- CIPD qualification (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Strong employment law knowledge and ability to make on-the-spot decisions.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and travel across Herefordshire for onsite meetings (own transport required).
