Software Deployment Technician - Hybrid Inside IR35 contract

Our prestigious Global Investment Bank client is seeking a contract Software Deployment Technician to join its Global IT team. This role is crucial for maintaining the security and efficiency of its Windows Client computers by identifying and removing unsupported software. The successful candidate will work closely with the Security Compliance team to ensure its systems are free from vulnerabilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an IT support role with a strong Windows technical background.
  • Proven experience managing software inventory, software asset tracking, and mass software deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with MSI packaging, software distribution, provisioning, and configuring software applications and updates.
  • Strong knowledge of software licensing compliance, license document retention, and managing software licensing in large organisations.
  • Experience in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation and strong Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-sufficient with project management experience.
  • Financial Services experience is a plus.Day-to-day of the role:
  • Audit approximately 2000 Windows Client computers using Symantec Software Management Solution to track and report on software obsolescence.
  • Remove unsupported programs that are no longer patched by the software publisher, thereby eradicating known vulnerabilities in the core desktop client build.
  • Coordinate with desktop users and department managers to replace obsolete Windows programs with newer supported versions, ensuring seamless integration with the company’s other applications.
  • Identify and update many obsolete Windows 10 non-core programs to remove hosted vulnerabilities and security flaws that may be exploited by cybercriminals.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of deployment processes, configurations, and system changes
