Infrastructure Specialist - London Market Insurance / Microsoft / Windows Server / Active Directory / SQL Server / Microsoft 365 / Azure / VM Ware

MBF is thrilled to partner with a highly reputable and expanding underwriting firm in their search for a skilled and enthusiastic Infrastructure Specialist. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a real impact within a successful organisation committed to its employees.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Manager, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining efficient operational systems to support core business functions. You will be a key player in ensuring high availability and continual improvement across the IT landscape. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic design and implementation of core infrastructure, ensuring high availability.
  • Provide 3rd line IT support, resolving escalated incidents within agreed SLAs.
  • Develop and deploy new and enhanced IT services.
  • Manage systems related to monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, and security patching.
  • Maintain system compatibility and interoperability.
  • Analyze existing systems, identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on hardware/software solutions.
  • Assist in developing long-term strategic and short-term tactical IT plans.
  • Develop and implement policies for system standardisation.
  • Maintain production system availability to agreed service levels.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively using Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Manage your own professional development.
  • Manage, build, support, and maintain server components.
  • Collaborate on the annual IT maintenance program.
  • Participate in the disaster recovery procedures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, and/or Microsoft 365).
  • Solid understanding of VMware.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions (AWS or Azure).
  • Experience working with a variety of technology stacks (compute, storage, virtualization, networking).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to participate in a shift-based rota and on-call support.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and technologies (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Scripting experience (Python, YAML, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of Agile, Kanban, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Relevant cloud certifications.
