About the Role
Are you a practice multi -skilled Network Engineer looking for your next challenge?
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Network Engineer to join a client of ours in their office in Colchester with some travel required to the other offices as this is a central role. This company understands the importance of work life balance so there are opportunities for flexible and hybrid working.
You would be responsible forensuring the security, reliability, compliance and performance of the IT infrastructure across the different offices as well as being responsible for on-premises / cloud systems, servers and network architecture. Overseeing day-to-day IT support and managing escalated incidents for network, security, server and hardware/software related queries.

Working closely with the IT Manager, Project Co-Ordinator, Audit & Compliance Manager and other IT team members to maintain a high level of service and IT compliance. Supporting all IT projects and practice staff, while contributing to the overall practice IT strategy. This role will develop over time and key responsibilities will therefore change too.

Network Engineer Key Responsibilities to include (full job descriptions available on request)
  • Oversee and work with the practice Service Desk Analysts to manage identity and resolve issues with minimum disruption/train Service Desk Analyst to develop additional skills
  • Manage and support the design, implementation, development and maintenance of the practice network, including cloud platforms/servers/Wi-Fi/networking and site/internet connectivity for business continuity requirements
  • Implement, manage, test and monitor the status of practice security measures.
  • Develop, maintain and test system backups and replications strategies (Firewalls, VPNs etc)
  • Lead the practice IT Steering Group and meet with stakeholders on IT related projects and systems

Required Skills & Experience for this Network Engineer
  • Proven experience in hands on network/security concepts/administration/implementation/configuration and maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of software/hardware procurement
  • Experience in infrastructure and device security
  • Project delivery and roll out experience
  • Knowledge in business continuity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server technologies, virtualization technologies (Hyper-V)
  • End user device management experience
  • Knowledge in Microsoft 365 cloud stack
  • Familiarity with financial systems, document management systems, monitoring tools and network troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with document infrastructure configuration, policies and processes to ensure compliance with industry standards ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials
