Role Overview:As a Data Governance Lead, you'll be responsible for developing data quality control designs, reviewing control requests from across the business, and ensuring alignment with newly established standards. Working closely with senior management, you'll play a key role in identifying and remediating gaps in the existing data controls framework. Experience with regulatory standards, such as BCBS 239, will help ensure a smooth transition for the right candidate.

You will be interacting with a diverse group of senior leaders, managing sign-offs, and supporting the implementation of comprehensive data controls across the bank's services, markets, and clients. A solid background in data governance and risk control frameworks, combined with the ability to navigate the complexities of a large organization, will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data quality control standards for business lines.
  • Review and compare existing controls with new definitions to identify gaps and remediation requirements.
  • Collaborate with various teams running independent data control processes and align them with the centralized framework.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data governance, quality, and lineage, with a focus on enhancing current control measures.
  • Act as a liaison for control requests, ensuring they meet the institution's evolving standards before sign-off.
  • Support the overall data risk and control strategy by reviewing gaps and driving improvements across business units.

What You Bring:

  • Experience in data controls, data governance, or audit, ideally within a large financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of how data controls are designed, implemented, and managed, with a proven track record in managing complex control frameworks.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple senior stakeholders and push back where necessary.
  • Previous exposure to BCBS 239 or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • A combination of strategic thinking and an eye for detail in identifying and remediating data control issues.
