Technical Agile Project Manager - IT Infrastructure - Network

INSIDE IR35

Duration: initially 6 months with opportunity to extend for the right candidate

Main Purpose of the Job:To collaborate closely with teams across a well-established world-class London University to help deliver a large-scale strategic Network Modernisation Programme. The Project Manager will be a key Programme resource managing day-to-day project deliveries supporting the Programme Director to deliver the agreed business outcomes.

Reports To: Portfolio Delivery Manager and Programme DirectorBudgetary Responsibilities: Project Manager will oversee and manage project budgets on behalf of the Programme Director.Direct Reports: None, though the Project Manager will manage day-to-day activities for resources across IT and third-party providers for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will oversee and manage approved work packages, including:

Project Delivery

  • Developing and maintaining project plans and documentation through all life cycle stages.
  • Facilitating risk workshops and managing risks throughout the project.
  • Overseeing project finances.
  • Handling project scope changes and producing documented change control impact assessments.
  • Creating project status reports for key stakeholders.
  • Planning, organising, and implementing project deliverables working alongside partner organisations.
  • Preparing transition documentation to hand projects over to the IT service team (BAU).
  • Requesting and coordinating project resources and team members to fulfil tasks and activities.

Support to Project and Support Teams

  • Facilitate daily standups to support and remove/manage any potential blockers to enable the team's progress.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and decision-making within the team.
  • Encourage cross-functional working among team members.
  • Balancing technical quality goals with project scope objectives.
  • Providing feedback and supporting continuous improvement.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in managing large scale technical transformation projects that involve changes to existing Network infrastructure or implementing new systems.
  • Experience working with external partners, vendors, and specifically external partner project managers is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a geographically dispersed team of management, stakeholders, project managers, and task owners.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software and project methodologies and tooling (e.g., Agile, Prince2, Jira, Confluence, Planview, MS project).
  • Experience of Aruba technologies desirable.

Essential Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes.
  • Proficiency in producing accurate and high-quality project documentation.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and conduct effective meetings.
  • Skilled in managing risks and utilising RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
  • Working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, IT security, applications, databases, and data centers, including system interfaces.
  • Ability to multitask and to quickly familiarize yourself with complex project deliverables.
  • Understanding of Network architecture and security protocols.
