Our client, a London based Museum, are looking for a Systems Administrator to complete their support team. You will be working directly under the Head of IT in a Team that shapes the IT landscape within the museum , in a pivotal role within a team of 4 people and putting you at the heart of delivering change across critical IT Services.

The Systems Administrator will ensure the smooth operation of services and facilitate the maintenance and planning of IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities include working with externally managed resources to maximise efficiency and seize opportunities to transform systems, security services and support delivery for internal teams.

Job description

The successful candidate will be comfortable problem-solving infrastructure and system related issues and developing user policies, training, and standards for IT applications. You will work alongside our busy Support and AV staff to provide a growing brief of services.

You will demonstrate the museum's core values and behaviours, providing a secure and efficient systems estate and managing a busy service desk to ensure a focus on customer and client satisfaction.

Essential skills:

Ideal candidates will provide proven experience across the following areas:

  • Maintaining a secure technical and procedural framework across the Museum.
  • Administering services such as Hyper V and Veeam and proven ability to manage backup policies and procedures.
  • Administering Microsoft 365, SharePoint, MS Endpoint, MS Teams’ admin and telephony services and managing storage. Monitoring network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to users.
  • As a Network or Systems Administrator, preferably within Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms.
  • Administering and troubleshooting network devices including DC’s Firewall and switch hardware.
  • Monitoring application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Administering a small MFD estate.
  • Maintaining / managing security measures to protect sensitive data and systems.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience creating accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Experience with Mac systems (JAMF) and hardware maintenance and setup.
  • Procurement, installation, and administration of ICT hardware.
  • Experience with AV hardware and software maintenance and configuration.
  • Experience working in the charity/not-for-profit sector, ideally in museums.

Person specification

Knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 4 years of experience with an equivalent Microsoft Certification in networking or systems administration.
  • Previous responsibility for the development of deliverables related to implementing systems and data projects.
  • Experience of working within a structured project framework such as PRINCE would be an advantage.
  • A motivated self-starter able to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build strong relationships, negotiate and influence.
  • Good understanding of data protection laws and support.
