Allen Lane are delighted to be supporting the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in their search for a Lead Architect. This is a key role within the Digital, Data & Technology team providing leadership in the design of technology solutions to support RBKC’s strategic priorities.

This is a hands-on role in which you’ll lead a small team of architects to ensure that best practices in solution design and problem-solving are upheld.

Please note that this is a hybrid position with 2 days per week required on-site.

The role

As a Lead Architect you will:

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that supports the strategic vision, roadmaps and plans of stakeholders across the council
  • Be a hands-on leader, guiding and mentoring architects and other colleagues ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to succeed
  • Uphold Architecture best practices, standards and design principles across the organisation enabling the consistency and scalability of technology solutions
  • Ensure solutions developed within the team meet council standards, policies and governance requirements
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity and innovation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, implement improvements to existing systems, processes and standards that add value to council services.

Key skills required

As a Lead Architect you must have:

  • Previous experience as a hands-on Solution Architect within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • The ability to work in cross functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies, frameworks and tools
  • Experience in leading/mentoring small architecture teams
  • The confidence to deliver highly technical topics to a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying strategic & operational issues, applying analytical and creative skills to find appropriate solutions
