SAIC Design Advanced London is seeking dynamic and imaginative Creative Designers to join our innovative team who are shaping the future of mobility across SAICs brands and its portfolio of cutting-edge products. As a key contributor to our forward-thinking studio, you will explore new opportunities in automotive design, breaking boundaries and challenging conventions with designs bound for European, Chinese and markets across the world.

Role Summary

As a Senior CMF Designer, you will play a pivotal role in defining the look and feel of the next generation of passenger vehicles. Working closely with the design and engineering teams, you will develop innovative color and material strategies that resonate with brand identity and consumer aspirations. This role requires a strong creative vision, a passion for materials innovation, and the ability to lead CMF projects from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Drive the creative development of CMF strategies, ensuring alignment with the brand vision and product portfolio.
  • Trend Research: Investigate macro and micro trends in materials, finishes, and technologies to inform design directions.
  • Material Innovation: Collaborate with suppliers to develop cutting-edge materials, finishes, and sustainable solutions.
  • Concept Development: Create compelling CMF proposals, including visual presentations, mood boards, and physical samples.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including exterior and interior designers, engineers, and marketing, to ensure CMF solutions are feasible and impactful.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outcomes within budgetary constraints.
  • Documentation: Develop detailed material specifications and supplier briefs to guide the production process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CMF design, preferably in the automotive or related sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and CMF-specific design tools such as KeyShot, Alias, or Substance Designer. Experience with 3D visualization tools like VRED, Blender, or Rhino is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in materials innovation and sustainable design practices.
  • Exceptional eye for detail, color proportion, and design trends.
  • Proven ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with international suppliers and managing production processes.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
