Purpose of the role:

Responsible for trading, underwriting and service activities, the objective of this role is to offer consistent quality service to customers, deliver satisfactory and profitable results for the company, and develop good business relationship with their clients broker panel. 2-3 days office based and the remainder working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop good business relationship with new and existing brokers.
  • Underwrite commercial combined/SME risks within the Broker Business team. This includes quoting new business and underwriting existing business (MTAs and renewals).
  • Responsible for managing and serving a panel ofassigned brokers' accounts.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with brokers, in line with Underwriting Authority.
  • Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to brokers.
  • Visit brokers as required to develop business and maintain existing book / cross-selling company's products.
  • Produce monthly reports for renewals and provide accurate analysis.
  • Identify poorly performing accounts and take remedial actions as needed.
  • Liaise with Claims team and prepare relevant claim reports. 
  • Liaise with Finance team on daily broker / client enquiries and assist Finance team on premium receivable, as part of key tasks.
  • Liaise with IT team for system enhancement and the testing of new & existing products.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in insurance (Cert CII)
  • MS Office skills such as Excel and PPT etc.
  • Over 2-years' experience in insurance underwriting within commercial/SME lines.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of insurance industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of underwriting insurance risks.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory practices and legislation in the industry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management skills to meet deadlines. 
  • Good communications and negotiation skills.
