Our client is a forward thinking Tier 1 construction company, who requires an experienced site based H&S Manager to assist them with their iconic development in Canary Wharf. Experience in new build developments and high-rise buildings, preferred.

The project duration is approximately 3 years, however theĀ position is being offered as a permanent position.

Overview:

To be responsible for all Health and Safety aspects , developing, maintaining, monitoring, and coordinating Health and Safety policies and procedures.Ā Ensuring all aspects of health and safety are in accordance with current health and safety legislation.

In addition, to supportĀ all areas of the business to develop their commercial operations, ensuring employee safety whilst enabling the business to deliver a practical maintenance provision model to their customers.

Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Ā 

  • Develop, maintain and co-ordinate health and safety policies and procedures across multiple workshops.
    Ā 
  • Ensure compliance to health and safety regulations by all employees of the business; providing the necessary training and ongoing meetings to assist the employee.
    Ā 
  • Ensure equipment in all sites are installed safely and maintained to the necessary standard.
    Ā 
  • Undertake risk assessments and site inspections. Identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks.
    Ā 
  • Keep up to date the safe operational practices ensuring adherence to any changes in legislation.
    Ā 
  • Ensure all First Aider and Fire Marshall responsibilities are carried out as per agreed policy and procedures.

  • Recording and investigating incidents, accidents and complaints, and cases of ill health.
    Ā 
  • Investigate any health and safety issues raised by management or employees.
    Ā 
  • Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are continually reviewed and updated
    Ā 
  • Produce reports for health and safety statistics, and trends writing regular articles in order to communicate to all employees on health and safety issues and changes to regulations.
    Ā 
  • Management of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) log as part of the Senior Managers Regime/ Certificate Regime.
    Ā 
  • Pass and maintain the requirements of the Relevant Regulatorā€™s ā€œfit and proper testā€ as required.
    Ā 
  • Adhere to the Individual Conduct Rules as part of the Senior Managers Regime/ Certificate Regime.
    Ā 
  • Attend training courses as required to enable you to develop your skills and knowledge through continuous professional development.
    Ā 
  • Management responsibilities for the Control of Contractors within any site.

    KEY Skills & Knowledge
    Ā 
  • Experience of working in a Tier 1 Construction environment.
    Ā 
  • Strong analytical problem solving and organizational skills
    Ā 
  • Being qualified to Nebosh Diploma
    Ā 
  • Being qualified in Nebosh Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
    Ā 
  • Hold a IOSH Managing Safety Certificates (or equivalent)
    Ā 
  • Hold a IOSH Risk Awareness Certificates (or equivalent)
    Ā 
  • Hold a Manual Handling for Assessors Certificate (or equivalent)
    Ā 
  • Fire management and risk assessment experience essential
    Ā 
  • Committed to providing excellent customer care with the ability to communicate in verbal and written forms at all levels
    Ā 
  • Excellent organizational skills
    Ā 
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.
    Ā 
  • Ability to give constructive feedback to all levels of staff.
