Seeking an experienced Communications Advisor to join the Policy and Markets area. This role is ideal for someone with a background in a press office, preferably within the public sector, who excels at handling and communicating sensitive, time-critical information. The successful candidate will be skilled in building and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Organise and participate in external communications with the media, including CEO interviews with the press.
  • Handle liaison with press and media contacts, developing effective working relationships.
  • Develop systematic processes for managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, particularly with the press and media.
  • Support a senior management review of the communications function
  • Prepare briefings on news items and matters relevant to the organisation
  • Provide management information on the performance of the communications efforts.
  • Contribute to workstreams, with a focus on stakeholder engagement.

Experience:

  • Practical experience of managing highly time-critical and sensitive external communications, particularly with press and media contacts, ideally from a UK government departmental press office or equivalent.
  • Experience in a UK government departmental press office and/or within the financial sector.
  • Ideally, you will have experience working on subjects particularly related to financial markets, fiscal policy, monetary policy, and/or economics.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, aiming to build long-term relationships and credibly represent the organisation
  • Excellent analytical skills with a structured, organised, and meticulous approach to work and record-keeping.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach; self-starter and able to take the initiative.
  • You will be used to working in a structured, organised, and meticulous approach to work, with strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines while maintaining calm and accuracy, particularly in written material.
  • Highly self-motivated.

Please note-The role requires SC level security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates who are SC security and DBS cleared. However, they will accept exceptional candidates without security clearance on the basis that the successful candidate obtains SC clearance upon starting the contract.
