We are looking for an assistant news editor (aka deputy editor) for a household name, digital news site. It's a senior hire and well paid so our client needs someone with a good solid track record of news editing in a 24 hour digital, rolling, news room for a news paper. You will have been an editor writing engaging headlines and copy, and using analytics and social media to curate the site and develop content,

A strong track record of news gathering, editing and managing a team is essential, together with an understanding of digital 24-hour news and the processes and pressures that come with operating in this environment.

Outstanding candidates should also be able to balance editorial objectives in a fast paced news environment. Prior experience in managing reporters, news editing and publishing is essential.

You might have come from a national newspaper newsroom where you are likely to have been an assistant or deputy editor, or you could have been the actual editor of a regional or local newspaper in the UK.
