  • Our Client is looking for a brilliant digital journalist to lead its health and wellness coverage. This person will help shape and grow the original content produced to help define and elevate our client's voice in this space
  • The right candidate will have a history of writing top-performing health content at a leading UK publication. They’ll boast excellent reporting and editorial judgment, plus the experience and flexibility to switch between hard and soft news
  • A proven track record of creating helpful and shareable health content, with practical tips and takeaways, is ideal. This role is for someone who can simplify a science-heavy study, have experts on hand to add authority to any article necessary, and be on top of the latest health fad trending on TikTok
  • A flexibility to respond quickly to key moments that will pique audience interest and drive traffic, as well as working on strategic, long-lead content using insights is a must. Some experience working across multiple formats - especially social video will be beneficial and a solid understanding of SEO is a must. A track record in building a distinctive voice and perspective would also be an advantage
About you:
  • Stay on top of the biggest health news, pitching, writing, and building trending and seasonal content daily
  • Remain focused on writing the best original content possible that both complements and stands out from our client's vast array of third-party content
  • Help develop innovative ways to tell stories through new format approaches
  • Help grow our off-net audience by working with your editor and our Audience team to make data-informed coverage and strategy decisions
  • Support the Lifestyle lead in managing the in-house and freelance team’s workflow in her absence
  • Be flexible and remain open to new ideas and critique
Essential Qualifications:
  • Have at least 3 years of reporting experience in digital journalism, including a comprehensive knowledge of how to use a CMS and understand the importance of metadata, tagging, captions, and audience insights to ensure our content performs at its best
  • Have experience interviewing and sourcing stories with a sound understanding of media law
  • Have some experience editing content
  • Have experience working with data and video or a willingness to learn the required skills
  • Have an excellent understanding of the UK health and wellness news landscape and an awareness of what topics audiences are interested in
  • Have a track record of innovation and the ability to constructively challenge convention
  • Be inclusive and have excellent communication skills at all levels, and an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams
  • Have a National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualification or equivalent
