Quest Search & Selection are working with a digital B2B publishing house who are looking for a Sub editor to join their growing editorial team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all written content across publications. Work closely with writers and editors to refine copy, maintain brand tone, and meet publication deadlines.

Key responsibilities of this Sub-Editor role:

  • Edit and proofread articles, blogs, reports, and other content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
  • Verify the accuracy of facts, statistics, and references in all written content.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the publication's style guide and tone of voice.
  • Craft compelling headlines, subheadings, and captions that engage the target audience.
  • Prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to meet tight publishing deadlines.
  • Maintain high editorial standards and identify ways to improve content quality.
  • Assist in developing content calendars and planning editorial schedules as required.
  • Ensure content adheres to legal and ethical publishing standards, including copyright laws.

Key requirements of this Sub-Editor role:

  • Ideally having experience as a sub-editor, editor, or copywriter, preferably in B2B publishing space.
  • That has worked in the daily news and longer content writing
  • Ideally looking for 2-3 days working per week (flexible to discuss timings and can fit around other projects)
  • This is a fix-term contract with the potential of being extended or going perm.
  • Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional command of written and spoken English.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to producing error-free content.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), editing tools, and SEO principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of marketing trends, industry jargon, and audience preferences.
