About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Planner to join a highly regarded planning team and contribute to a range of development projects. The successful candidate will support senior team members in delivering planning appraisals, preparing and submitting planning applications, and managing the planning process for a variety of clients.
This role is ideal for someone working towards their RTPI APC accreditation, looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct planning history searches and high-level site reviews to assess development potential.
- Assist in preparing planning appraisals, pre-application submissions, and planning statements.
- Support the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications, appeals, and discharge of conditions.
- Attend site visits, client meetings, and planning committees with senior colleagues.
- Monitor planning applications and track policy developments that may impact projects.
- Provide high-quality research and analysis to support planning strategies.
- Assist in identifying and generating new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
- Working towards RTPI APC accreditation (or recently completed).
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, legislation, and policy framework.
- Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant planning software.
