About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Planner to join a highly regarded planning team and contribute to a range of development projects. The successful candidate will support senior team members in delivering planning appraisals, preparing and submitting planning applications, and managing the planning process for a variety of clients.

This role is ideal for someone working towards their RTPI APC accreditation, looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct planning history searches and high-level site reviews to assess development potential.
  • Assist in preparing planning appraisals, pre-application submissions, and planning statements.
  • Support the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications, appeals, and discharge of conditions.
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and planning committees with senior colleagues.
  • Monitor planning applications and track policy developments that may impact projects.
  • Provide high-quality research and analysis to support planning strategies.
  • Assist in identifying and generating new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
Requirements
  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
  • Working towards RTPI APC accreditation (or recently completed).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, legislation, and policy framework.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant planning software.
