H9 Technical Recruitment are hiring for a Land Manager to work at our Renewable Energy developer client in London to be responsible for sourcing new land opportunities for wind, solar, and energy storage developments, conducting feasibility assessments, and managing relationships with landowners and key stakeholders
Role and Responsibilities:
- Land Acquisition: Identify and secure land suitable for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems.
- Due Diligence: Perform detailed due diligence on potential land sites, including landowner negotiations, environmental assessments, planning constraints, and financial feasibility.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, agents, local authorities, and other key stakeholders to facilitate land deals and ensure smooth project development.
- Feasibility Studies: Collaborate with internal teams to assess land suitability for renewable energy projects, including conducting site evaluations and supporting environmental impact assessments.
- Planning and Permitting: Work closely with the planning team to navigate the planning application process, ensuring compliance with local regulations and securing necessary permissions for development.
- Negotiation: Lead negotiations with landowners, agents, and stakeholders to secure land options, leases, and purchase agreements for renewable energy projects.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed on trends within the renewable energy and land acquisition markets, and monitor planning policies and opportunities in the energy sector.
- Project Support: Support the development and project management teams by providing land-related insights, assisting with site acquisition, and ensuring smooth transitions from land acquisition to project development
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in land management, land acquisition, or a similar role within the renewable energy, real estate, or utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy project development, particularly in solar, wind, or energy storage, and the land requirements for these projects.
- Knowledge of the UK planning and regulatory framework related to renewable energy development.
- Experience conducting due diligence, site evaluations, and feasibility studies for land-based projects.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a track record of successful land deals and stakeholder management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively manage relationships with landowners, stakeholders, and local authorities.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving and managing challenges in land acquisition and development.
- A degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Property, Planning, or Renewable Energy is preferred, but not essential.
- A strong understanding of environmental and sustainability issues is a plus
