An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced and dedicated Head Gardener to join a historic 300-acre private estate in Berkshire. This role is ideal for a self-motivated and passionate horticulturist seeking a challenging and rewarding position within a highly professional estate team.Reporting to the Estate Manager, the successful candidate will oversee garden maintenance, project management, and garden administration, while providing clear direction and guidance to a team of 13 gardeners on a daily basis. The estate features 60 acres of formal gardens, including a potager, rose garden, grass tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a large Victorian glasshouse, and a cutting garden. Additional areas of responsibility include a large woodland, horse paddocks, a wildflower meadow, and lakes. The role also involves managing the principal's townhouse garden in Belgravia, London.The ideal candidate will possess proven staff management experience, extensive horticultural knowledge, and strong communication skills. The estate is known for its excellent staff retention and rewards hardworking, committed individuals.Requirements:7-10 years of experience in a senior position at a private estate or public gardenComprehensive plant knowledge and woodland management experienceRelevant horticultural qualifications and experienceOperational knowledge and experience with garden machineryIntermediate IT skillsFull UK Driving LicenceAccommodation: Estate cottage providedHours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some Saturdays and Bank Holidays required during busy periods.Only candidates with a valid UK right to work can be considered for this role.Tiger is B Corp Certified.
