Assistant Solicitor

Venn Group’s specialist legal recruitment team is currently working with a respected Public Body in London, seeking to recruit an Assistant Solicitor to support their dynamic in-house legal department.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 years PQE, looking to contribute to public service through high-quality legal work.

Job Purpose:

To assist in delivering a high-quality, cost-effective in-house legal service, providing expert advice on legal matters affecting the organisation and its members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert legal advice on less complex legal matters impacting the Organisation and its member authorities
  2. Conduct thorough legal research, gather information, and prepare briefings, deal with inquiries and provide advice.
  3. Draft and settle legal agreements and assist with contentious/non-contentious legal issues.
  4. Support litigation processes, liaise with external stakeholders, and represent the Organisation in courts and public inquiries.
  5. Contribute to the development and improvement of legal quality systems and maintain accurate electronic and manual records.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with at least 2 years of PQE.
  • Experience: Knowledge of law and legal practice, including local government legal matters, public law, inquiries, research, and drafting skills.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills with a strong understanding of the political environment.
  • Technical Abilities: Competency in legal templates, Excel spreadsheets, and legal document drafting.
