Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Renowned National Charity in their search for an interim Commercial Property Lawyer to support the Senior Commercial Property Lawyer by providing general legal advice relating to Commercial Property law and support the rationalisation of the Charity's property portfolio.

Please note that this opportunity could be taken on as fixed-term (salaried) or temporary (day rate) and are open to both full-time and part-time.

You will prepare, review and negotiate complex and routine Commercial Property transactions involved with the disposal of a commercial property portfolio via public auction or private treaty.

You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, leases, licences, transfer deeds, deeds of surrender and similar documents, as well as obtaining s119 reports.

You will support the disposal process with file management, scheduling deeds and deeds storage, investigating and rectifying title deeds, obtaining conveyancing searches, producing replies to Commercial Property Standard Enquiries, dealing with general enquiries relating to the property portfolio and pre-completion requisitions, and preparing stamp duty forms.

You will also be responsible for analysing title documents and legal descriptions of property, prepare reports on title, prepare completion statements and invoices, and prepare Land Registry applications.

The successful post-holder will be a Qualified Lawyer of England & Wales (3 years PQE or more) with a current practising certificate. You will have strong experience of Commercial Property law and practice (ideally within the Charity Sector), with experience managing the disposable of commercial properties (both leasehold and freehold).

You will have experience drafting and reviewing Property documentation, working with the Land Registry portal and SDLT online, as well as supporting the conveyancing process during significant property rationalisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and negotiate complex and routine Commercial Property transactions involved with the disposal of a commercial property portfolio via public auction or private treaty
  • Obtain s119 reports and liaise with relevant professional (e.g. surveyors) to achieve best value for these properties
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, leases, licences, transfer deeds, deeds of surrender and similar documents (with Senior commercial Property Solicitor guidance)
  • Support the disposal process with file management, scheduling deeds and deeds storage, investigating and rectifying title deeds, obtaining conveyancing searches, producing replies to Commercial Property Standard Enquiries, dealing with general enquiries relating to the property portfolio and pre-completion requisitions, and preparing stamp duty forms
  • Analyse title documents and legal descriptions of property, prepare reports on title, prepare completion statements and invoices, and prepare Land Registry applications
  • Deal with all aspects of unregistered property in a timely manner to ensure registration
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to key stakeholders on updates of legislation, regulations and standards, to ensure the Charity performs within legal and ethical parameters (particularly Property, Charity and Company law)
  • Provide legal support to our subsidiaries, international and associated affiliations

Person Specification

  • Qualified Barrister or Solicitor of England & Wales with at least 3 years post qualification experience and current practising certificate
  • Strong experience of Commercial Property law and practice, with the ability to draft and review Property documentation
  • Experience providing legal advice on property portfolio to internal stakeholders
  • Experience of working with the Land Registry portal and SDLT online
  • Experience of supporting the conveyancing process during significant property rationalisation
  • Resourcefulness to develop solutions to complex legal or regulatory challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
