About the Role:
Westminster City Council is looking for a skilled and experienced Commercial Property Lawyer to provide expert legal services during a maternity cover period. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of commercial property matters, working within a dynamic legal team supporting both Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
As a key member of the Development and Property Legal Team, you will manage an existing caseload and handle complex property transactions, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations and contributing to high-profile projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on a variety of commercial property transactions in a local government context.
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering clear, solution-focused guidance to clients across both councils.
- Manage and develop an existing caseload, taking on new complex commercial property legal matters.
- Draft, review, and advise on legal implications, decision-making reports, leases, licenses, and other related documents.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the legal service, contributing to cross-disciplinary cases.
- Ensure adherence to internal processes, including decision-making frameworks, financial procedures, and case management systems.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualified Solicitor or qualified CiLEX Executive.
- Expertise in advising local authorities on commercial property matters.
- Proven experience in managing commercial property transactions and navigating local government decision-making.
- Strong drafting skills, especially for preparing legal implications for council reports.
- Strong client relationship management and commitment to providing high-quality legal services.
- A proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
