Our client, a leading international law firm in London, has briefed us on a new requirement for their employment law team. The employment Law team is looking to bring on board an Employment Associate with (ideally) 6-7 years' PQE, for a contract of 12 months. Whilst the initial contract is for 12 months in duration, there is the potential for permanency. The successful individual will join the employment law team in London, and can expect to spend 3 days per week in their London offices. The team is open to considering individuals looking to work part time, 4 days per week, or full time, 5 days per week.

The team is known for advising premium major corporates across a range of sectors to include financial services, technology, retail and leisure, for example. The team often advise on matters with an international/cross jurisdictional element to them. Predominantly handling work for notable employer clients, they also advise some senior executives.

The diet of work will be a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including the employment elements of corporate transactions. The successful Employment Associate can expect to be involved in:

  • Advising on employment documentation, policies, disciplinary and grievances, family friendly issues, redundancy processes and GDPR
  • Employment tribunal litigation including drafting Grounds of Resistance, Particulars of Claim, attending Preliminary Headings and dealing with case management steps
  • Advising Senior Executives on maximising their severance terms on exit
  • Due diligence on transactions and advising on issues, drafting warranties and indemnities and advising on TUPE

Suitable Employment Lawyers are likely to demonstrate:

  • Qualification as a Lawyer in England & Wales
  • Ideally 6-7 years' PQE as an Employment Lawyer
  • Experience gained from well respected City, West End or regional teams
  • The ability to work across a full range of contentious and non-contentious Employment matters, as well as corporate support elements
  • Confidence in working autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • A willingness to contribute to a busy and successful team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
