Our client is a large and dynamic Barristers' Chambers with a dedicated team of staff who provide the clerking, financial, marketing and administrative support for over 190 barristers. They are a diverse set, specialising in all aspects of human rights and social welfare law, including crime, family law, housing, immigration, and civil law. Based in a Grade 1 listed building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, close to Holborn tube station, Chambers is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive person to lead their Marketing Team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Marketing and Communication roles, preferably  in a barristers’ chambers or similar legal professional services environment. Experience of managing others is also required.

The post requires excellent organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills. Ideal candidate will and have a keen interest and knowledge of current affairs Chambers’ practice areas. Understanding Chambers’ ethos is essential. Flexibility is essential as we hold a number of events after working hours, for which Time Off In Lieu is provided.

THE ROLE

  • Manage the Marketing Team
  • Manage Chambers’ reputation through well-crafted external communications across a range of channels
  • Work with the Head of Business Development (HBD) and Practice Managers (PMs) to horizon-scan for promotional opportunities
  • Work closely with the PMs and HBD to implement innovative marketing initiatives and report on their effectiveness to the COO and ultimately the Board of Directors
  • Managing the marketing budget and keeping expenditure within the budget allocated
  • Manage Chambers’ marketing and communications channels, including taking strategic lead on the content and presentation of the website, digital channels, social media accounts
  • Manage the relationship with web designers and developers to help ensure the site is secure and reliable. Manage the hosting of the website.
  • Drafting news items and curating social media content
  • Identify appropriate industry awards. Advise on and draft submissions for these awards and promote Chambers’ award achievements and follow-up online publicity

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in managing marketing function (ideally in barristers’ chambers)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience of line management
  • Experience of organising events (in-person, hybrid and online)
  • Experience of balancing competing demands from different stakeholders
  • Understanding of the need for equal representation
  • Degree educated or equivalent
