This role is a rare in-house contentious contentious construction role with a global insurance business. The position is for a junior-mid-level lawyer with experience of litigation relating to the Defective Premises Act / BSA 2022. The role is based in London (hybrid, home working also on offer).

Our Client is a well know global in insurance business.

Description

The overarching duties with this role are:

  • Categorising structural defect cases and fire safety claims by way of red, orange and green to indicate their collectability or otherwise
  • Assessment of what is capable of being negotiated, what will be litigated and what is not recoverable
  • Tracking the recoverability of cases and the amount recovered
  • Conducting between 60 to 100 cases on a rolling basis and effecting collection on assigned cases.

Responsibilities to include the following:

  • Preparation of recoveries advice
  • Preparation and issue of Letters of Claim and management of cases on those Letters of Claim
  • Negotiation of Settlements and litigation of those cases with the assistance of external Counsel as necessary
  • Management of external experts including maximising effectiveness of advice and minimising costs/leakage.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a UK Qualified Lawyer. They are likely to have between 4 and 6 years PQE (based on the structure of the Team, the work and remuneration offer and the amount of autononmy required to effectively discharge the duties associated with this position).

The will have experience of litigating cases relating to the Defective Premises Act and Building Safety Act 2022 (this is a non-negotiable).
