Private Client Associate/Senior Associate - PutneyLocation: Putney (with flexibility to work from other offices as required)Hours: 9.30am - 5.30pmFlexible Working: Agile working policy - up to 40% remote working per monthThe OpportunityA highly regarded law firm is seeking a Private Client Associate or Senior Associate to join its well-established and growing Private Client team based in Putney.This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced private client solicitor (5+ years PQE) to manage a diverse caseload while contributing to business development and team leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening client relationships, expanding the firm's private client offering, and working towards career progression, with a view to future partnership.The Ideal CandidateThe firm is looking for a motivated and ambitious individual with:
- 5+ years PQE in private client law
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of private client matters, including trusts, tax, mental capacity, and cross-border work
- A track record of delivering high-quality legal advice to a varied client base, including high-net-worth individuals and business owners
- STEP, ATT, or CTA qualification (or working towards one) - strongly supported by the firm
- Excellent client relationship management skills and the ability to generate new business
- A proactive approach to networking, financial management, and leadership development
- A strong academic background (minimum 2:1 degree, ideally with commendation at LPC level)
- Proficiency in financial and case management systems, including Excel
Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Expertise & Case Management
- Handling a high-quality and varied caseload, including:
- Wills, estate, and tax planning
- Probate and estate administration
- Trust creation, administration, and taxation
- Mental capacity matters and LPAs
- Cross-border estate planning
- Providing technically sound legal advice to clients and supporting colleagues with complex matters
- Collaborating with other practice areas within the firm on multi-disciplinary matters Business Development & Leadership
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with referrers, such as accountants, wealth managers, and financial advisors
- Engaging in business development activities, including networking, article writing, and cross-departmental collaboration
- Supervising and mentoring junior fee-earners, including trainees and legal assistants
- Managing financial performance, including time recording, WIP management, and billing
- Trusts, tax, and estate planning
- Cross-border private client work (including a specialist French and Italian law team)
- Mental capacity and Court of Protection matters
