Locum Senior/Principal Planning Lawyer
Rate negotiable dependant on experience and seniority
Local Authority in South London
6 month initial period with possibility for extension
35 hours per week, ideally 1 day office attendance per week plus evening committee attendance three times a month
Are you a passionate and experienced Principal Planning Lawyer or a Senior Planning Lawyer looking for the step up? Venn Group is working with a fantastic local authority in South London in their search for a Senior/Principal Planning Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 6-month period, with the potential for extension depending on performance, project needs and permanent recruitment.
Requirements:
- Qualified Lawyer, with a valid practising certificate in the UK
- Specialism within Planning Law, with experience of practising post-qualification
- Experience in management is advantageous
- Experience working within local authorities, or for a public sector organisation
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Advising the clients of the organisation on all aspects of Planning Law and providing representation when necessary
- Advising on all areas of Planning Law, including rural and suburban planning
- Attending and representing the Council in evening Committees three times a month
- Advising officers and members in a proactive and sensitive manner
- Mentoring and training less experienced team members
- Deputising for heads of legal and other principal lawyers when necessary
