Senior Planning Lawyer

Are you an experienced Planning Lawyer looking to make a real impact in one of London's most dynamic boroughs?

As a Senior Planning Lawyer, you will play a key role in delivering expert legal services across a full range of planning and highways matters. Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, you'll be part of a specialist team that supports some of the borough's most high-profile and transformative projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and services in planning, development, and highways matters.
  • Draft and negotiate S106 agreements, deeds of variation, highways agreements, and over-sail licences.
  • Deliver advice on Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) issues.
  • Secure affordable housing provision through rent and nominations agreements.
  • Prepare and manage cases for court, public inquiries, and appeal hearings; instruct and liaise with Counsel as required.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
  • Have demonstrable experience in planning and highways law, ideally in a local authority setting.
  • Be confident handling a varied caseload independently and working at pace under pressure.
  • Have a practical, solutions-focused approach to legal problem-solving and strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Be flexible and prepared to work outside normal office hours when required.
