They are committed to supporting vulnerable people and delivering the best results for their clients.Position Overview:My client is recruiting an experienced Housing Solicitor to join their team. The successful candidate will need to have significant experience in housing law, meet the Legal Aid Agency Supervisor Standard, and be able to support both clients and paralegals effectively.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the day-to-day managerial responsibilities of the Housing team, ensuring compliance with professional body requirements.
  • Provide advice, casework, representation, and advocacy services on housing law matters, including Homelessness, Disrepair, Eviction, and Possession.
  • Undertake your own advocacy and assist with the legal aid contract, billing files, completing legal aid applications, and complying with Legal Aid Agency and SQM requirements.
  • Guide and support paralegals in developing their professional skills through one-to-one sessions and case oversight.
  • Build and maintain links with local community groups, advice networks, and legal professionals.
  • Carry out other duties as reasonably requested.
Requirements:
  • A clean, valid Practising Certificate.
  • Proven track record in delivering legal aid work with a wide range of experience.
  • Strong management skills and a commitment to social justice.
  • Previous supervisory experience and ability to work to key performance indicators.
  • Excellent client care skills and sensitivity in dealing with vulnerable clients.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to use initiative and sound judgment.
  • Extensive experience in all housing-related work.
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.
  • Excellent IT skills, familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management.
Desirable:
  • Holds Supervisor status.
