Horizon Teachers are seeking a Learning Mentor to work in a secondary school based in Lewisham to support students in our Respite Room. Helping them reintegrate into the classroom and providing both academic and emotional support.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about student well-being and behaviour management, with experience working with students facing challenges in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group academic support, ensuring students stay on track with their work.
  • Help students manage emotions and behaviour, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Support reintegration into mainstream classes by building confidence and addressing individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and pastoral teams to create tailored support plans.
  • Encourage self-regulation, social skills, and emotional resilience.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and promote positive behaviour.
  • Ability to create a structured and supportive learning space.
