Pastoral and Behaviour Support Mentor - Secondary School - Waltham Forest, London

Are you passionate about supporting the pastoral and behaviour needs of students in a secondary school setting?

Do you have experience working with students with SEN, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and behavioural challenges?

LTF Recruitment is excited to offer this opportunity for a Pastoral and Behaviour Mentor to join a dedicated secondary school in Waltham Forest, London.

In this role, you will be working with students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), supporting their pastoral, behaviour, and SEMH needs. You will be key in helping students manage emotional and mental health challenges, guiding them in developing positive behaviour strategies, and ensuring they are fully supported in both their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral care to students within the secondary school, addressing emotional, social, and mental health challenges
  • Offer 1:1 mentoring and group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them manage their mental health and emotional well-being
  • Mentor students who exhibit challenging behaviour, helping them develop positive strategies to improve conduct both in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with students with SEN, ensuring their specific needs are met and they are fully engaged in their learning environment
  • Collaborate with the school's pastoral team, SENCo, and other staff to implement personalised behaviour plans
  • Promote positive behaviour throughout the secondary school and contribute to creating a supportive, inclusive environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to provide consistent pastoral and behaviour support for students
  • Track and monitor the progress of students with SEMH, SEN, and behavioural needs, providing feedback to staff and ensuring students meet their behaviour targets

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with students in a secondary school environment, ideally in a pastoral, behaviour, or SEMH support role
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and SEN and how they impact students' behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • A positive, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with young people with diverse needs
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and manage challenging behaviour with patience and professionalism

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to 125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Waltham Forest, London - excellent transport links
