The Healthcare team requires a 3-6 PQE solicitor to assist Tracy Sell-Peters team in its burgeoning practice. The role presents significant opportunities for training, growth and development in a unique team at the forefront of healthcare litigation which has enjoyed significant success, as well as excellent recognition in the legal directories and the market generally.The team acts for a wide range of clients (insurers, insureds, regulators, Royal Colleges, defence organisations, and medical professionals) on the defence side, with insurers and insureds (medical professionals), being the largest contingent. We are an expanding team of 10 lawyers, which is part of a bigger Keystone Healthcare practice comprised of high-calibre, highly motivated and happy legal professionals. We very much focus on team-work, and on developing holistic lawyers who can turn their hand to all aspects of defendant healthcare litigation. We are unique in offering the ability to do this fascinating work in a very different, enabling environment, free from many of the restrictions of mainstream private practice.


The team also draws on opportunities to act for Keystones wider client base, while keeping its sights firmly set on servicing and continuing to win new business in this rapidly evolving, most interesting area of practice.


Working in a team environment, the role involves:


  • Advising and representing healthcare professionals in healthcare regulatory proceedings, before the GMC, GDC, HCPC, NMC and other healthcare regulators. GMC experience is most valued;
  • Advising in MHPS and private hospital disciplinary cases;
  • Advising and representing healthcare professionals (and their medical indemnity insurers) including doctors, surgeons, nurses, dentists and allied health professionals in respect of clinical negligence claims;
  • Providing medico-legal guidance and early pre-action assistance for members of medical indemnity insurance schemes, including in the Caribbean;
  • Providingpolicy coverage advice to insurers in the healthcare sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on behalf of leading insurers, handling quality mid- to high-value work. For the right candidate, it offers the opportunity for development based on performance.The successful candidate will have the following attributes:


  • Experience of healthcare litigation isessential(defendant clinical negligence claimsandhealthcare regulatory cases).This role is not suitable for you if you have only claimant experience, or if you have only defendant experience in claims work. Please do not apply if that is the case.
  • Experience of insurance, insurance law and coverage would be beneficial, but is not essential

  • Strong technical ability to include a thorough grasp of principles, case law and topics
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
