Library Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Library Assistant to join the national library of the UK based in Euston. This role requires attention to detail and good computer literacy, as you will be adapting to changing bespoke systems and performing data entry tasks using Microsoft 365. Full training will be provided.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver excellent customer service to readers in the Reading Rooms, remote users, and internal users.
  • Provide effective access to the Library’s collections and assist with related services and enquiries.
  • Uphold the Library’s core values in all interactions and services.
  • Play a key role in the maintenance and security of the collections in storage areas and Reading Rooms.
  • Contribute to planning and delivery of moves and other activities that support effective collection care.
  • Manage a shift pattern that includes day, evening, and Saturday work, with a fixed day off on Tuesday.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
  • Good computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft 365.
  • Data entry skills and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to bespoke systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to work a shift pattern that includes evenings and Saturdays.
