Role Overview: The Distribution Manager is responsible for ensuring the right quantities of raw materials and finished goods are in the right place at the right time and transported to where they are needed in the most cost-effective way possible. This role involves line management of a small team of Distribution Coordinators at the Company HQ in London and functional management involvement in global warehouses and support functions at locations in the UK, USA, France, Singapore, and China.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage your team to ensure efficient and secure flow of raw materials and finished products through the company’s supply chain, balancing timely delivery with cost efficiency.
  • Ensure conformity to the freight budget by achieving the best freight rates and using the most efficient transportation modes.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategies to guarantee inbound and outbound shipments are sent and received on schedule.
  • Work with suppliers and the technical team to ensure optimal packaging and labelling of goods for efficient transport.
  • Ensure systems are in place for rapid customs clearance.
  • Ensure supply chain and warehouse security.
  • Troubleshoot logistical issues, including managing marine insurance claims and poor courier and forwarder performance.
  • Oversee the generation of the Raw Materials Forecast and Make to Stock list for finished products.
  • Cooperate with Planning, Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse, and Product Management to develop strategies and processes to avoid stock outs and overstock, optimize shipment sizes, and ensure suitable warehousing space.

Qualifications & Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree / MSc in Supply Chain Management (preferred)
  • Extensive distribution or logistics experience, including international trade.
  • Deep understanding of commercial elements such as trends in freight pricing, working capital, contractual arrangements, and negotiation techniques.
  • Management and commercial decision-making experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong report writing, data analysis, and presentation skills.
