Are you a Logistics Manager with experience working within the pharmaceutical, food or scientific sectors? Are you familiar with working in a regulated environment?

My client is looking for an experienced and hands-on Logistics Manager to oversee and take control of the daily operations within this busy pharmaceutical distribution company. The ideal candidate will report into the Group Commercial Director and will be a strong and personable leader, who’s not afraid to showcase their initiative and drive real change within the team. The Logistics Manager will play a key role in leading the logistics, warehouse and distribution functions whilst delivering exceptional customer and employee experiences. This is a permanent, office-based position working Monday-Friday, from 9am - 5:30pm.

Main duties: 

  • Logistics management - manage senior logistics and warehouse managers to deliver outstanding customer and employee experiences. Evaluate performance, provide feedback and constructive criticism, train staff & monitor KPI's
  • Transport management - coordinating the movement of goods (incl. temperature controlled), optimising transport routes and management of carriers and couriers 
  • Analysis & negotiation - assessing current procedures and agreements in relation to cost, suppliers, stock - negotiating new terms/rates and researching potential options and/or solutions to reduce costs
  • Inventory control & order fulfilment - working with the Group Purchasing Manager to monitor and manage stock/inventory levels. Overseeing delivery and fulfilment to meet required customer expectations.
  • Strategic planning - Define a clear vision and goal for the department - developing and executing strategic plans to achieve organisational objectives
  • Leadership & recognition - promoting effective communication and teamwork, whilst inspiring and motivating the team. Acknowledge and reward outstanding performance & foster a culture of an open-door policy for the team to voice concerns or ideas.
  • Recruitment & onboarding - participate in the recruitment process. Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees
  • Health & safety - implementing and ensuring the continuous participation of health and safety measures within this regulated environment, relating to logistics, warehousing, employees, etc. as well as preparing for audits and inspections. 

Key requirements: 

  • Leadership - previous management experience within Logistics, Distribution, Warehousing or Supply Chain
  • Experience - expertise working in a regulated environment in the pharmaceutical, medical, food, FMCG or scientific industries 
  • Experience - transport planning, road and sea freight experience 
  • Qualifications - logistics, supply chain or demand planning qualifications would be ideal, including a degree, Lean / Six Sigma, CIPS or MCIPS
  • Communication- articulate with strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy - experience handling WMS (warehouse management systems) and ERP systems, ideally SAP
