Our client, a leading provider of sustainable mechanical, electrical, and telecommunication engineering solutions, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager (Change Lead) to join their Commercial Team on the HS2 Old Oak Common project. This role is integral to leading the Commercial Management of Change processes, ensuring the project's financial success through value engineering, optioning, and mitigation strategies. You will work closely with the wider Technical and Construction Delivery teams to maximise change-related opportunities and secure full agreement with Client Stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage NEC3 Option C Contract administration and change management
- Oversee commercial reporting on change management and develop project change metrics and dashboards
- Develop and price Measurement and Compensation Event Quotations through to formal submission
- Collaborate with internal teams and the Client to secure full entitlement under contract terms
- Assess and report change impacts against the programme accurately
- Manage and lead Change Management and Risk Reduction meetings, including drafting contract communications
- Provide commercial risk advice to the project's Technical, Commercial, and Construction teams
- Maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Ensure appropriate commercial records are kept and oversee any contractual issues that arise
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Construction Commercial Management or equivalent
- Extensive experience in NEC3 Contract management and administration
- Proven experience in managing change within major complex building and MEP projects
- Experience in leading large teams and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Demonstrated expertise in claims, dispute resolution, and understanding of UK law
- Proficiency in MS Excel and strong presentation skills
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, both internal and external
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
- Chartered membership (or working towards) with RICS, CIOB, or ICES
- Ability to motivate and mentor commercial teams, providing training as required
- Collaborative and flexible approach with a strong ability to work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a technical focus
- Ability to drive strategic change and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
